Our commitment
Hue is designed to be usable by as many people as possible. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards for color contrast, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader support.
Built-in contrast checks
Every palette in Hue is scored against WCAG 2.1 contrast ratios. We evaluate each foreground/background pair and label it as AA Large (≥3:1), AA Normal (≥4.5:1), or AAA (≥7:1). Pairs that fall below 3:1 are flagged as failing so you can fix them before they ship.
Colorblind simulation
The palette editor includes a colorblind simulation toggle that re-renders swatches through protanopia, deuteranopia, and tritanopia filters. Use it to check whether your palette stays distinguishable for the roughly 1 in 12 people with color vision differences. The toggle is keyboard-operable and its state is announced to assistive technology.
Keyboard navigation & copy interactions
Every interactive element — swatches, copy buttons, like, save, publish, generate, and footer links — is reachable with Tab and activated with Enter or Space. Each swatch exposes its hex value as an accessible label, and pressing Enter or Space copies the value to the clipboard with a visible confirmation and a polite screen-reader announcement. Focus indicators use a 2px ring with an offset so they remain visible against both light and dark surfaces.
